Blue Anchor Leisure has a prominent legacy on the East Coast, John Woodward OBE founded the company in the late 1950’s and rapidly became an integral aspect of the leisure industry manufacturing caravans under the name of Blue Anchor International.
With innovative holiday home design, the Blue Anchor name became renowned on holiday parks throughout Europe and in 1974 and 1975 the company won the Queens award for export.
Investment
In the 1990’s Blue Anchor Leisure began a programme of Investment on the Lincolnshire Coast. Completely restructuring the famous Eastgate Holiday Centre into Fantasy Island, the UK’s first Indoor Theme Park Resort incorporating Europe’s largest open air, 7-day Market.
In the year 2000 major investment took place with the purchase of the then Robin Hood Leisure Park in Chapel St Leonards, this has now been rebranded to the Golden Palm Resort which incorporates its own leisure facilities, dining experience and is home to The Club Tropicana the East Coast’s Premier Entertainment Venue, which seats up to 2000 guests.
Progression
The progression of the company has been tremendous over the years as the journey began back in 1950 with just one single holiday park. Blue Anchor Leisure in 2024 is now the regions largest Holiday Park operator with a portfolio of 17 holiday parks located across the East Coast. Our latest development Lilac Blossom Meadow was completed last year and follows the successful blueprint of its sister parks Buttercup and Wildflower Meadow. Both Holiday Parks have exceeded expectations and demonstrate the strength of the company in 2024!
Expansion
The Blue Anchor Leisure Brand has continuous plans for expansion, investing and developing locally to allow us to offer brand new developments whilst emerging into new sectors within the leisure industry, more specifically the growth of our venue brand Woody’s. The family are committed to the continuation of investment in new holiday parks and the upgrade of existing facilities.
